PREPARE FOR REVIVAL

Do you want to be a tool in God’s hands and see the power of God at work through you? Do you long to see a revival hit the earth in your day?  If you do, then you must play your part. The barricade of sin between you and God must be destroyed and you must inculcate a lifestyle of love for God and holiness.

Though there are no recipes or guidelines that will ensure revival but God’s Word gives the conditions that must be met before a visitation of His presence in a revival. 2 Chronicles 7:14 explicitly spells out these conditions, “If My people, which are called by My name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”Did you see that? To see a revival in your life, you must humble yourself, pray, seek the face of God and turn from every wicked ways. So ask yourself, “Looking at my life today, would God be pleased to send revival into my heart, my home, church or nation? Could my life be considered and used as an instrument of revival by God? “To begin with, ask the Holy Spirit to search your heart and your life, to be specific in revealing any aspects of these conditions that you are not meeting, and that he should help you make adequate changes so you can be prepared for a revival.

Here are other steps you should take as you prepare for a revival in your life and around you.

1.   Enter into a renewed commitment to holiness and obedience: If there are non-negotiable things for revival to happen, they are these two: obedience and holiness. … and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:  (Hebrews 12:14b)

2.   Stay Expectant: Expect that you will personally witness and experience revival in your lifetime. Do not pay attention to skeptics and naysayers. Fellowship closely and frequently with those who share same passion and desire for a revival. For surely there is an end; and thine expectation shall not be cut off.(Proverbs 23:18)

3.   Fast and pray: Without a deep hunger, the revival we long and wish for will be delayed. Every past awakening and revival was birthed through deep intercession. We can see no revival apart from prayer and fasting. But if from thence thou shalt seek the LORD thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul.(Deuteronomy 4:29)

4.   Engage in a lifestyle of Evangelism:  Revival never happens through the preservation of the usual and normal. The Holy Spirit is illuminating hearts everywhere. Consider yourself to be one of those hearts and talk about Him everywhere you go. By being a vessel to spread the Good News, you are readying yourself and your immediate community for a coming revival. For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.(Romans 1:16)

5.  Maintain Unity in and with the body of Christ: Whatever does not promote unity in your heart towards other believers needs to be put to death. Everyone will not always agree on the same things regarding how we live out our faith but we have to always remember that none of those things are the source of our unity anyway. As long as we all agree that Jesus Christ is Lord, and believe in his death and resurrection. This is the unity that should binds us together. Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! …As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the LORD commanded the blessing, even life for evermore(Psalms 133:1,3)

Finally, remember that revival does not happen by wishful thinking, it comes solely by an act of God which may be facilitated by our obedience in doing our part for God to do His. So today, choose to begin to review your life and apply the aforementioned in preparing for the outpour of God’s spirit upon you, your home and your nation. Hallelujah!
