Why should we pray for Revival?
Early America revivals are referred to as the Great awakenings and there is a reason for that. If there is one thing believers and the body of Christ need today, it is an awakening from our sleep. Even the best of us are so sleepy and dreary toward God that many believers no longer even pick up their Bible or even pray. Entertainment amongst many other societal activities and responsibilities have dulled us but the problem is way deeper than that. We have not merely been entertained by other things, we have failed to be in awe of God. The believer and the church that prays for revival is praying for an awakening to God. They are praying for times of refreshing from the Lord. They are praying for a reawakening of the fear of God.
Hence, it is imperative we pray and find our way back to God.
Here are some prayers to guide our journey back to God and a journey to a revived spirit.

PERSONAL REVIVAL PRAYERS
Jeremiah 4:4
Circumcise yourselves to the LORD, and take away the foreskins of your heart, ye men of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem: lest my fury come forth like fire, and burn that none can quench it, because of the evil of your doings.
- Father, in the name of Jesus, I circumcise myself today as I take away everything that has stood between my heart and You, thus straining our relationship. I repent of all evil doing of my heart and my hands in the name of Jesus.
Jeremiah 4:22
For my people is foolish, they have not known me; they are sottish children, and they have none understanding: they are wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge. - Father, rid me of every foolishness that makes my own ways as wisdom in my eyes that I may see my true state before you and amend my ways in the name of Jesus.
REVIVAL PRAYER FOR CHURCH
Jeremiah 5:23
But this people hath a revolting and a rebellious heart; they are revolted and gone.
- Father, have mercy on my church and the Body of Christ as a whole, for having a rebellious and revolting heart towards you in doing what seemed good in our eyes rather than allowing the Holy Spirit lead the affairs of our church. Have mercy upon us and cleanse us that we may be reunited with You in the name of Jesus.
Jeremiah 5:26a
For among my people are found wicked men: - Father, we pray you rid our congregation of wicked men who lure and sow seeds of discord and carnality amongst the brethren and thereby polluting your house and your children, that we will in unity of heart and purpose pursue after you in the name of Jesus.
REVIVAL PRAYER FOR NATIONS
Jeremiah 5:28
They are waxen fat, they shine: yea, they overpass the deeds of the wicked: they judge not the cause, the cause of the fatherless, yet they prosper; and the right of the needy do they not judge.
- Father, in the name of Jesus, I repent on behalf of my nation for all injustices committed in my nation that have come up to you and set your face against my nation. Have mercy upon our land, oh God!
Acts 4:31b…they spake the word of God with boldness. - Father, let the spirit of boldness rest upon every local church in every nation that they may be used as an agent of revival and national transformation, in Jesus’ name.
As often as you perceive you have strayed away from God, pray these prayers and find your way back to Him.
